Susanna's Catering

When it came to planning our wedding, food was one of our top priorities. It was a bit nerve-wracking to discover we would book a caterer BEFORE the tasting. But we took a leap of faith on Susanna based on our chats, her incredible menus (check them out!), and her reviews, and we're so glad we did! She was super easy to work with, accommodated all of our requests (like avoiding the use of any plastics with the hors d'oeuvres), and delivered mouthwatering dishes. If you're on the hunt for a caterer who serves up passion, creativity, and a personalized touch, Susanna's Catering in Morrisville is the ultimate choice. Trust us — she'll leave you and your loved ones raving long after the plates are cleared! Our guests STILL talk about the food.
The woman behind the business
Susanna Keefer isn't your average caterer—she's the kind of person who can whip up a perfectly crafted dish and make it feel like it's straight from a postcard-worthy kitchen in the French countryside. Growing up in the south of England, her love of food began with family trips to France. From there, she built an awe-inspiring career: cooking in some of Stowe's finest restaurants, cheffing on luxury barges through Burgundy and the Loire Valley, and working as the head chef on private yachts in the Mediterranean and beyond.
Since founding Susanna's Catering in 2003, she's brought that global inspiration home to Vermont, where she's all about celebrating local ingredients, seasonal menus, and food that feels as warm and welcoming as she is. With her deep expertise and a passion for perfection, Susanna isn't just a caterer — she's a culinary magician.

Her creations
Let's talk about the food. Because when Susanna is in the kitchen, everything is next-level. She's all about flavors that pop, ingredients that shine, and menus that feel as unique as the couples she works with. Susanna has a knack for crafting dishes that accommodate dietary restrictions without sacrificing an ounce of flavor (gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free — she's got you). And she's all about local, seasonal ingredients.
If cake isn't your thing (or you want it all, like us), Sarah also makes all kinds of mini desserts, from incredible macarons to adorable mushroom meringues, and probably just about anything you can think of - pies, tarts, donuts, eclairs...you name it! We hope to try more of them in the future...
And I've got to mention the grilled cheeses. Yes, they deserve their own paragraph. We went into the tasting thinking we'd try both the Balsamic Blueberry Arugula & Chèvre and the Butternut Squash, Vermont Cheddar & Vermont Beer & Onion Jam, and then choose one. Because who needs TWO mini grilled cheeses at their wedding. Turns out we did. And you probably do too. They are the grilled cheeses of dreams, and we still talk about them constantly.

In their own words: Susanna Keefer
What are your personal favorites of the things that you make?
We've always loved perfecting mouthwatering small bites with huge flavor, such as: Mini Yorkshire Puddings with Local Seared Beef & Watercress Horseradish Crème Fraiche and Poppadum Coconut Crusted Potato, Pea, & Spinach Samosas with Saffron Curry Sauce.!
How do you approach crafting the perfect menu for a wedding?
We have menu selections available to view online but find that it's that initial conversation with our clients that gets the juices and taste buds rolling towards crafting their customized menu.
What do you wish couples understood when booking a caterer or about the process?
Quality takes time and costs more.
Who is your ideal couple?
The beauty for us is in the diversity that our couples bring. However, we love to cater to couples who want to have fun exploring their heritage and journey together through their wedding meal.
One of the things we really appreciated was your emphasis on local ingredients (where possible) and sustainability. How do you approach these issues?
It is becoming more apparent daily how important and ultimately safer it is to purchase, eat, and support local. We trust and rely on our local farmers and producers, and they rely on us. It's a beautiful circle and one that I am proud to be in, and alongside that, we all know that you cannot beat the quality, dedication, and taste of local Vermont!
Do you welcome all types of couples (genders, ethnicities, races, ages, etc.)?
We have had the absolute honor to cater all styles, genders, sizes, shapes and colors of weddings, reveling in actively celebrating our clients as they are with foods that they love and traditions that they bring to the table.
Aside from cooking, what are some of your favorite things to do?
Studying Integrative Health & Wellness, gathering & connecting with people, being one with nature, traveling, and eating!
What is your favorite local establishment?
Jenna's Café/Two Sons Bakehouse in Johnson, VT for their applaudable mission and delicious breads.
Shout out! Who is one of your favorite vendors or venues that couples should check out?
We catered a wedding at Farmhouse Flowers in Moretown, VT. A relatively new wedding & event venue nestled on a flower farm, they provided great customer service, and their beautiful all natural venue has a lot to offer.
